Ethnological Carvings

Vintage Collection from a World Traveler

Masks, Wood Carvings, Ceramic and Metals make up this Collection

I came across this collection of
Ethnological Carvings in my travels.
They are approximately 50 - 60 years old
from a number of different countries.

Some are probably early souvenirs
and others were for ceremonial purposes

This Rams/Goats head is my favorite....made from a real skull
and jawbone...with real teeth and horns
and then decorated ornately
with tooled copper, brass, tin and several jewels.

Way Cool!

Last Blooms of Summer

My Garden is Literally Bursting with Color

But in a very short amount of time
all these lovely blooms will be gone....
So I am enjoying them while they last.

On another note.....I found these fabulous letters and numbers recently and
just wanted you to see them....

I love when I can make words out of the random letters found

Have a Great Day!

September Pretties - In the Garden & in the Shop

September Blooms in Full Swing

Sedum and Ever blooming Roses

If you would like to have an easy to grow, colorful, no care, garden
still in full bloom in the fall use Sedum with your
Ever blooming Roses or Rose of Sharon trees
interspersed with Hostas that sprout large spikey flowers.

Hydrangeas

White Hydrangeas look fabulous also at this time of year.
Phlox give a few bright spots against the greenery of Hostas
and the more subtle colors of the Sedum

Hostas

Rose of Sharon

Rose of Sharon comes in dozens of shades of white, pink to red. You can cut them back in early spring to keep them bush-like or let them grow into trees.

Honeysuckle

Honeysuckle also blooms in the fall,

smells wonderful and is a fast grower

On another note......

Trash to Treasure

I Am A Big Fan Of Turning Trash Into Treasure!

Here is a pile of trash someone
left in front of my garage/workshop

I guess they know me well.....I was very happy to have it!

Someone had used the chairs for sawhorses...the seats were all cut up and the table was just a mess....but I loved the detail on the chairs and the table legs.

Sooo....I mentioned to Walter that it would be a good idea to put a new top on it.....
Well, he got started so fast that I didn't even have time to take a photo
of the table with the original top.

Here it is with the top already off

And the wood chosen for the new top

 and the new top on....

Walter is AMAZING sometimes!

So now we sanded the chair seats and painted them all
and  I am currently trying to decide if I should sand them in spots
to make that delicious original green color show through!

PS...this is a different table I came across this weekend.
It is great because of the size of the metal top.  Usually these tables are much smaller

I have to do some reorganizing before
I can fit the set in the barn but
I love it..... it came out so sweet
The set is available for sale in the barn $195

On another note....here are my fabulous finds this weekend

.....and here is my current project....
repainting the legs of this table

Saturdays have been such a success at the barn that we have decided to open on Sundays too.
See you this weekend....Sherron

Buffy, My Paddle Board Loving Dog

My Dog, Buffy, is fairly new to the family.
We only have him about a year,
but he has taken to the water like nobody's business!
(we adopted him from a shelter about a year ago)
Right from the beginning he was
quite comfortable in the water

His balance was great, and even if he falls off
he can get right back on by himself

As soon as we get to the waters edge he is eager to jump in
and I have trouble staying ahead of him
All in all, I had a very relaxing vacation....
which I really needed.

On another note.....this is my find of the week
I just love this step ladder.
